Over Labor Day weekend, we went on a family camping trip to the San Bernardino National Forest. Based on our previous camping experiences with children, I was kind of dreading the trip, but the kids really surprised us and did great! They even slept the whole night on the first night there (the second night was a different story, but that's how it goes sometimes). It was really nice to get out of the city and spend some time in the mountains. I realized how much I miss nature in general, and that we need to escape from the LA Basin more often!
1. Here we are, hiking near our campsite

2. Goofy brothers, pausing long enough for a silly picture

3. The first day of our camping trip was also Matty's 2nd birthday, so we celebrated by eating cake after dinner

4. I will humor my parents and stand by this giant tree, even though I look ridiculous.

5. Boys hiding in a natural shelter

6. We went to Lake Arrowhead one day, and they have a small amusement park for the kids. I can't believe how serious Alex looks driving the train!

7. Alex and Daddy, riding the go carts (Matty was very upset that he was too small to ride--he kept saying "My car! My car!" as they went by)

8. A nice picture of Alex and Daddy

9. Now this is what camping is all about

10. Boys being silly as Mommy & Daddy were cleaning up the campsite

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Looks like you had fun. Next time we need more pics of mama. Pass the camera to daddy.
I'm so impressed you went camping! Thank god I have girls, because I think the Holiday Inn is camping! (-:
