Today went much better than I had imagined it would. Two adults, two kids and two cats in a car for 8 hours is a recipe for disaster, right? We got on the road at about 10:30 after stopping for breakfast here. One of the many places we will miss in Redondo Beach.
We were lucky enough to see several of our neighbors on the way out for one last goodbye. I have to admit to shedding a tear as we drove out of Redondo for our last time as a family--the past five years have been good to us, and we are leaving many good friends behind. Somehow this move is different than past moves--maybe because we know it's likely to be our last, and we are finally settling down somewhere as a family.
Today we drove through four states--California, Nevada, a small tip of Arizona, and a little way into Utah. Tomorrow we will continue on to Colorado Springs, and will spend the night with family friends there. We apologize profusely to any friends we won't see on our brief journey through the Springs! Wish us luck as we cross the Rockies tomorrow!
