Camping!

We decided to go camping one night this past weekend to get the boys used to the idea at an early age (we hope to take lots of camping trips as a family). We went to El Capitan State Park north of Santa Barbara, and had a campsite about 500 feet from the water on the top of a hill. We got the tent set up fairly easily, took a walk on the beach, and then watched the sunset as we ate dinner. Alex especially enjoyed the trains that went by a few times. It was beautiful, and very peaceful, except for the screaming baby in the middle of night (ours). After several unsuccessful attempts at having Matty sleep in the pack and play, he ended up sharing my sleeping bag with me. Fortunately it was big enough for both of us. Alex did great, and slept the whole night. I told Erik that we are bringing a queen-sized airbed and a double sleeping bag on our next camping trip, so that I don't mind if one or more children want to sleep with me. Our tent can sleep 8, so we have plenty of room for everything! :-)

On the way home, we stopped at a beach restaurant in Santa Barbara for breakfast. Of course we had to check out the beach afterwards.

That's great! And camping is something wonderful to do when the weather is still so hot! :o) Plus, you miss all the crowds, but still get to enjoy everything! We hope to take our little girl camping some next summer. I never would have thought to take a pack-n-play for her to sleep in, so I'll have to remember that.
Glad you ALL had fun!

How fun (and agree with Cathy on the brave thing). If only I liked camping...
